Pray for Revival

Yesterday was the National Day of Prayer.  We in Hardee county had three Day of Prayer Rallies.  We had a 10 a.m. rally at First Methodist Bowling Green.  We had a noon rally at FBC Zolfo Springs.  Then we had the large county wide rally at Heritage Park in Wauchula.  There were literally tens of thousands of these kind of prayer events all over our nation yesterday.

2 Chronicles 7:13-14 state, “If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

I want you to notice in those verses it did not say, “and government” or, “and lost people” or, “and businesses” or any other kind of group with whom society runs to for help.  The verse says, “and My people who are called by My name.”  And what are God’s people to do when devastation and waywardness occurs?  They are to humble themselves and pray.  They are to seek God’s face.  They are to turn from their wicked ways.

The problem, Beloved, is far too many of God’s people are unwilling to humble themselves.  Far too many of God’s people are unwilling to pray.  Far too many of God’s people are unwilling to seek His face and still more are unwilling to turn from their wicked ways.  Our nation can be healed.  Our nation can be saved.  I think, however, the only way that is going to happen is if God releases a great revival among His people.

Until God’s children will do these prerequisite commands, then our nation is going to continue to walk a path which will ultimately end in the destruction of this nation.  If, however, God’s people cry out for a supernatural revival to fall on them, then we have a chance for a true spiritual awakening to take place on this nation.

A revival is for God’s very own people to get right with Him.  An awakening is when God starts to stir the hearts of lost people to become saved.  Awakenings always come after the revival.  Until God’s people’s hearts are right with the Father, He is not going to stir the hearts of lost people.  Who would disciple them and train them up in the way they were to go if the Believer’s hearts were not right with the Lord?

In one of our prayers yesterday, the pastor said something to the affect of, “Let’s not just have one day of prayer, but let us have 365 days of prayer for God to heal this land.”  Would you, follower of Christ, commit to praying every day for God’s healing of our land and for humility to fall on His people so they would truly repent of their sin and follow hard after the Lord?  I pray you will.
